Agency Introduction

Harmony House was established in 1985 as the first shelter for abused women and their children in Hong Kong. Today, we have developed into a leading one‑stop anti‑domestic violence service organisation, offering a comprehensive range of preventive, therapeutic and developmental programmes to support individuals and families affected by domestic violence.

In addition to frontline services, Harmony House actively promotes healthy and harmonious family relationships through community education, provides professional training for multi‑disciplinary practitioners, and engages in policy advocacy and legislative reform to advance protection and long‑term support for victims of violence, their families and the wider community.

Belief

We believe that all human beings have the right to live with dignity and respect and to be free from violence, abuse and coercion. Human rights should be preserved in our homes as well as in our society
We believe equality and mutual respect are fundamental principles for a healthy and harmonious family.
We strongly oppose the use of violence as a means of control.
We are dedicated to helping victims of domestic violence to resume dignity over their own lives.

Mission

To tackle the social problems of domestic violence using diverse approaches, and promote harmonious and healthy relationships in families with a comprehensive range of preventive and therapeutic services.
To reach out to families in need through counselling and crisis intervention.
To change the misconceptions and incorrect attitude towards domestic violence through community education, impart appropriate knowledge and skills to handle domestic violence.

Goal

To protect and empower individuals who are victims of domestic violence and help them to establish their self-esteem and confidence.
To counsell and give guidance to batterers on how to break the vicious cycle of violence and eliminate the harm to the family.
To establish, promote and educate professional bodies and the community on the importance of family harmony.
